For years, tents have played a vitally important part in desert life in India. From the nomadic peoples of the northern deserts with their fixed, seasonal campsites to the tribal communities of the rural areas; from caravanserais of traders, traversing the country, plying their trade, to extravagant, Royal Hunting parties; tents have been a principal form of accommodation. There is no better way to experience the opulence of former Royal life than by spending a few days in a desert camp, being treated like royalty, whilst exploring rural villages, ancient temples and mighty forts.
This journey begins with a few days under canvas in the Thar Desert and slowly moves south through the unexplored, tribal areas of western Rajasthan where you stay in small palaces in rural communities and have a chance to see a panther. Continue to Rajasthan's only hill station at Mt. Abu and see northern Gujarat with its exceptional temples and excavations, leaving you with an enlightened view of this undiscovered area.
At the end explore Jaipur - The Pink City, taking you through: City Palace, Amber Fort, Samode is an hourís drive from Jaipur The 400 years old palace has a wealth of frescoes, many of them depicting religious subjects.
